To help students and parents with the daily balance of healthy eating and physical activity, Sodexho School Services developed a new Web site called BeSmart-EatSmart-LiveSmart.com. This site offers a variety of nutritional information, and BMI (body mass index) and Nutrition Calculators. You'll find ideas for fun activities to get you moving for fitness, too!
Be Smart features tips on healthy eating and physical activities. The School Starts section features activities for elementary-aged children - fun ways to learn about nutrition. Performance Zone encourages teenagers to exercise more often. S-ZONE is for adults. This section of the Web site explains what a "serving" is and helps you make sense of the nutrition fact panels that you find on food products in the grocery store.
Eat Smart focuses on three key aspects of healthy eating: balance, moderation, and portion control. A nutritional supplement guide is also featured.
Live Smart looks at the importance of physical activity. Get the whole family involved with an evening walk, bike ride or another aerobic activity.
The nutrition calculator and the BMI (body mass index) calculator are geared to children. Use the nutrition calculator to total the number of calories your child consumes in a day. Use it as a learning tool to help them learn about healthy choices.
The site also features an Ask the Dietician section that includes tips and information as well as answers to your individual questions.
