Bethany Public Schools is proud to celebrate Bethany High School’s SECOND National Blue Ribbon School recognition, an achievement that highlights the dedication and excellence of our students, staff, and community. Having first received this distinction in 2015, BHS has once again been recognized for its unwavering commitment to academic success and student achievement! Today’s assembly honored this milestone with remarks from Dr. Bellows and Oklahoma Secretary of Education Nellie Sanders, along with performances from our choir and band. We were privileged to welcome State Representative Tammy West, our Bethany Police and Fire Chiefs, members of our Board of Education, and former Bethany graduate and current Oklahoma City Councilman Bradley Carter, who joined us in celebrating this achievement. Additionally, we were honored to invite back Dr. Kent Shellenberger and Dr. Don Wentroth, who served as superintendent and principal, respectively, during our 2015 Blue Ribbon recognition. We also recognized high school educator Mandee Chapman-Roach, whose dedication played a significant role in helping Bethany High School earn this prestigious award. This achievement would not have been possible without the leadership of Principal David Jewell and Assistant Principal Chad Marchino, whose commitment to students and staff continues to drive excellence at BHS. Following the ceremony, students celebrated this achievement with an ice cream reception, courtesy of Blue Bell. This recognition belongs to our entire school community, past and present. Thank you to everyone who continues to make Bethany High School #BetterInBethany every day. #BlueRibbonSchool #BronchoPride

Today, our 3rd-5th graders took part in a special assembly to learn about the history of the 1995 Oklahoma City Bombing. Our athletic trainer, Nick Chaffey, shared his personal story of losing his mother in the tragedy, reminding us why we must always remember the lives lost. Representatives from the OKC Memorial Marathon spoke about the significance of running to remember, while an arborist from the OKC Bombing Museum shared the story of the Survivor Tree, a symbol of strength and resilience. Our own school was given a sapling from the Survivor Tree in 1995, and today, we rededicated it with a new plaque made from the rubble of the bombing. Our students showed great respect and reflection during the ceremony, understanding the importance of remembering our past to shape a kinder, stronger future. We will share the new plaque with you all once it’s installed. 💜🐴 #BetterInBethany #RunToRemember #WeWillNeverForget
